The Basics

What is an X-ray?

An X-ray uses a very small amount of radiation to create an image of the inside of the body in seconds. Dense structures such as bone absorb more of the beam and appear bright, while air-filled lungs appear dark, which is why a single image can show a fracture, pneumonia or fluid so clearly.

It is usually the first imaging test ordered for an injury or chest symptom because it is quick, widely covered and immediately useful. Our Glendale center uses fully digital detectors, so the dose stays low, the images are sharper than film, and your technologist can confirm quality before you leave the room.

FAQs

Questions about X-rays.

No. X-ray is our walk-in service, most patients are seen the same day, often within minutes of arriving at our Glendale center. You are welcome to book a time if you prefer a guaranteed slot.
Very little. A chest X-ray delivers roughly the same dose you receive from natural background radiation over a few days. Our digital equipment uses lower exposures than older film systems while producing sharper images.
Most insurance plans want an order from your physician, urgent care or specialist. If you do not have one, call us and our team will explain the fastest way to get imaged.
The imaging itself takes seconds per view, and most visits run under 20 minutes door to door, including check-in and positioning.
